Evaluation of innovative solar business models: with the emergence of the Peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading and community shared solar (CSS)

Seed Funding for Competitive Projects, PI, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong (Mar. 2023 – Present)

This project aims to evaluate the techno-economic feasibility of two innovative solar business models, namely, the peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading and community shared solar (CSS). The proposed context is set to be at a residential community at microgrid level, and the battery energy storage system (BESS) will also be considered in CSS application. To achieve this aim, the following objectives will be conducted; (i) development of the database considering the photovoltaic (PV) system, BESS and life cycle cost; (ii) development of the P2P energy trading and CSS pricing model; and (iii) techno-economic analysis from stakeholders’ perspectives.
