Research Project
Integrating Discounted Payback Period (DPB) with Agent-Based Model (ABM) to Evaluate the Feed-in Tariff Scheme in Hong Kong for Solar PV Installation
Postdoc Matching Fund Scheme, PI, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong (May. 2022 - Present)
This research project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Feed-in Tariff (FiT) Scheme in Hong Kong by integrating discounted payback period (DPB) with agent-based modelling (ABM). This research project is a novel work to investigate the optimal FiT rate from household’s perspective to invest in the solar PV system in Hong Kong based not only on the techno-economic feasibility, but also on human behavior prediction from social and communicational aspects. The outcome of this research project will shed light on the effectiveness of the current FiT rates, and the proposed FiT will address householders’ concerns about the practical payback period of joining this scheme. The results from the statistical analysis and sensitivity analysis will also reveal constructive policy implication for policy makers.
